Nevada cases of the novel H1N1 influenza, also known as swine flu, surpassed 100 today, health officials said.

Washoe County, including Reno and Sparks, reported eight new novel flu cases Friday, boosting the total number of cases in the Northern Nevada county to 71. Statewide, cases reached at least 105. Clark County still has 29 confirmed cases, Carson City has four and Lyon County has one, health officials said.
So far the United States has reported 15 deaths linked to the flu, including two in El Paso, Texas, on Friday. The United States is reporting 8,975 probable and confirmed cases of this flu, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said.

Most of the cases of the flu have occurred in younger people, ages 5 years to 24 years. People over the age of 60 may have some resistance to the new flu
