The Zamboanga City Health Office said Saturday it is looking into the death of a five-year-old girl, who became sick after eating a sick pig’s meat.

Dr. Rodel Agbulos, city health officer, said the girl and other members of two families from Barangay Vitali were brought to Vitali Health Center on February 28 after experiencing gastrointestinal disease symptoms, like diarrhea and vomiting.

Agbulos said that according to the patients, they felt sick after consuming pork of pigs that are infected with an unknown animal disease.

The girl died on March 1 while being transported to Zamboanga City Medical Center.

Agbulos said the health office has learned that at least 12 pigs in Barangay Vitali have died of unknown disease.
