13 Villagers Are Bird Flu Suspects

A total of 13 Air Batu villagers, from Village Air Batu, County Asahan, North Sumatra were expected as having the status of  bird flu. Two of the patients underwent maintenance in the Isolation Space at Rumah Sakit Umum Pusat Adam Malik Medan. The rest underwent  maintenance in the Area Public Hospital of Asahan.”The personnel at RSUD Abdul Manan Asahan reconciled two patients here.  On Wednesday at dawn around 02,00, they arrived. The two patients consisted of a male child and a woman,” said a public relations person at RSUP Adam Malik of the Ginting Rays, on Wednesday (6/8) when being encountered by the reporter.

The official said the condition for the two patients was initially worrisome. Both of them had a fever, the temperature of their bodies reached 38 to 39 levels celsius.  Both of them also experienced breathlessness, accompanied by coughing. The team of doctors, who was led by Prof Dr Luhur Soeroso, gave tamiflu and put the patients on IV fluids.  The two patients have the initials F (7), a woman, and the male baby, 8 months old, has the initials Ms.

“The two children are neighbors,” said the official.

The team of doctors, he said, has taken chest x-rays, blood samples, as well as liquid samples of the throat and nose.  The team took this sample a total of three times to be sent to the Centre of Department of RI Health Research And Development in Jakarta. The community will know results of this testing at least one week after the sending.  The official said that two patients who underwent the maintenance never had direct contact with poultry. However one week previous near their house there were poultry that suddenly died.

“The local health officials tested the poultry and evidently they were positively attacked by the virus H5N1,” he said.

As for the other 11 patients was suspected of having bird flu, they underwent the special maintenance in RSUD Abdul Manan, Kisaran, Asahan. The officials of the Intensive Care Unit (UGD) RSUD Abdul Manan, Ana, said that the eleven other patients were RAPPING (5), IP (6), Spr (33), DY (5), the US (39), M. (32), D (32) Sdr (39), RM (8), and D (2). The patient D was the last patient who entered this morning on Wednesday.
